A question on these hard drive boards. Are the larger ones, particularly the top left, worth a better price if I have a bunch of them? I know the larger ones are older. Or are all in the same group?

there was a buyer who actually sorted HD Boards....Probably long gone as it appears only a handful of buyers still active at least on this FORUM......I'd say if you had enough of those specific boards to refine (1000's of pounds) you could probably command a premium.......Ebay also will sometimes command a premium for higher grade boards but with the raise of USPS rates kinda a wash just sending it to a buyer here and supporting the forum
I may be wrong but the one on the top left looks like a tape drive board
I'm fairly certain that it is a hard drive board from an old scsi drive. I just took apart about 25 of them that we got in. As we say around the shop, quantity demands pricing....but you'd have to have a lot... PM for more info on pricing from me.Quote:

Top left could be a SCSI hard drive board- some Quantums used them.
You could try eBay, but for most of us, the quantity isn't there to ask for a premium

Mudlucky and Matador have it right. They top left is an old scsi (scuzzie) drive. It's been cold here in Southern Maine. Like stay indoors, I'm not going outside if I don't have to, cold. So I have been taking hard drives apart.
Never had an issue. We get the same price on our end WITH tantalum (ie boards that have it) as the ones without. I pull all tantalum off all my boards before sending them in. For instance there isn't a separate pricepoint for fingerboards that have tantalum vs ones that don't. I have never had an issue and always gotten fair pricing after pulling.Quote:

1400lbs? And you aren't refining? I sure hope you are getting a preferred price at that weight.
I'm not really concerned about being downgraded as much as the time spent pulling SMD's off 1400 pounds of boards for 17 dollars a pound. I do remove heat sinks, any metal or plastic brackets to get a better price but that's as far as I go.Quote:
