My two yards have been stuck on $60 a ton for months. This week they both increased to $91. That quite a jump all at once. This is in upper SC. Is this indicative of the coming market, or just a local fluke?

In January my buyers said down in Feb or March for sure. They kept the price the same in Feb due to snow and bad weather . They are saying down in March. No one had the flow in Jan . Like they were expecting .
small decrease or holding steady til mid summer, don't expect anything but regional fluctuation until after the November election. may see little change until after the inauguration just because of fear of outbound Obama doing wacky stuff

I might have to call the yard tomorrow to find out current price.
The local mill is working 2 shifts a day, 7 days a week right now making pipeline pipe.

I called about what we call "shred" around here the other day because I haven't been to those guys since early Nov. when it was down to half a penny a pound. Well, its gone up!! It now 1.15 cents a pound for "tin". But on the other hand, my main non-ferrous guy has brought #2 Cu back up to $1.46 from a buck and quarter during the late fall. I broke down and brought in some of my cleaned up yoke and degaussing cable copper and some brass because I needed more allowance money this week. Brass was a buck a pound.
