Where to sell my copper

Hey Fellas, I have about a ton and half of copper and I'm trying to get the best bang for my stash. I'm aware of the prices the scrap yards are offering, but I'm not trying to sell to any yard. I'm trying to sell to the merchant who buys from the scrap yard. I'm finding it hard to find one of these entities, does anyone have any advice?

Going to be hard to cut out the middle man in this case. I am sure if you ask the yards they will not tell you who buys from them. Some websites list buyers for stuff. RecycleNet Corporation

If these yards only have one location, they are just selling to the national scrap metal businesses, or very large operations. SIMS, Schnitzer, Omnisource, etc...Upstate Shredding in your area does a lot of non-ferrous.

Next, although you do have a considerable amount of copper, it really is a drop in the bucket to the big processors. This is also a one-time shot. It's not like you'll be bringing this amount in every week. Call the larger yard of your choice, and ask to talk to a buyer - they might bump you up pricing levels; they might not. Usually you need a business account set up, not just someone calling out of the blue to unload a whole bunch of copper.

Just my opinion, and others will probably chime in.

3000 lbs isnt squat to a foundry or end source.....your not gonna get anywhere plus you would have to wait 60 to 90 days for payment. just sell to yard paying the best price or sit on it.

As Ryan mentioned, try Upstate Shredding / Ben Wietsman. Their price list does state"for larger quantities, call Steve green at 607 687 7777 for special pricing."

Just got a text from them: prices going up on all grades at all locations efficient 12/19.

Mills don't buy from the public, and if you were looking to export you would need 40k-45k lbs. As Ryan posted earlier, call one of the larger yards around you and they will likely give you a better price with that volume. After all is said and done whoever you sell it to will prolly only have a gross profit of 300-350 bucks.
