This is just a tip for people wanting to repair their cell phone, although this is pretty specific. The charging port went out on my phone, and I found really cheap board replacements on eBay. For a few bucks, I had it in a week, installed, and my cell phone charged fine again. However, reception went to ****. Fast forward another week, and I ordered a used board for $7 and my phone is finally back to normal with good reception. Keep this in mind when ordering parts!
welcome to the wonderful world of NON-OEM parts. If buying on Ebay..ALWAYS ask the seller to make sure it is OEM (hint: $5 main board, not OEM as the OP discovered). I have had a hell of a time getting batteries that are OEM for personal phones lately. And the morons put it in the title of the Ebay listing...busted one the other day when got it. He refunded with a QUICKNESS when I complained.
I replaced the charging port on a Galaxy S4 recently. Paid about 10 bucks for it. I never thought about buying OEM parts nor did I know what OEM meant until I looked it up a few minutes ago.

BE REALLY REALLY careful with some of the parts if they are not OEM. Charging port and batteries are MAJOR problems as they can catch fire with many of the knock offs. Batteries have been known to explode as well. This is NOT to scare you nor say all non OEM batteries etc are bad...THEY ARE NOT. You just have to know WTF you are getting and know enough not to grab whatever as it can be dire consequences on that $600 phone.Quote:

Yeah, I wasn't really thinking about whether the part was genuine or not. Because the phone is a couple years old, I just assumed there was a large surplus of parts that needed to move. Silly me.
