You mean, instead of stealing? If so, then, yeah- I'd call that a good angle.
There's a lot of metal that won't be thrown out by the curb, and it helps to have a good rapport with the property owners- a lot of them will gladly give it to you

Who knows- there may be more than scrap value items there, too. If they remodel something, the old materials may have value to someone....
