Hello everyone, I'm new this industry and new to the forum,
My company just bought a majority stake in an overseas scrap yard that turns all of their metal into ingots. Our deal gave us the rights to their Aluminum Ingot, but I have no idea who to approach to sell them too, I assume the local scrap yards here in the U.S. have no use for ingots. Who buys Aluminum in Ingot form? What industry/companies should I contact?
? Really. any company that makes beer cans should be able to help you. Perhaps your company can buy a majority "take" in a overseas beer can maker too! Buy the scrap aluminum, turn that to aluminum ingots, make beer cans out of the ingots. Now you only need to buy a beer making company, then drink the beer, you "closed" the loop. "total recycling" is what your new company should be called!

I do see some points in Burt's response. I'd suggest looking into aluminum can/bottle plants and see if their in the market for purchasing the ingots. Might also want to seek out metal workers who would use the aluminum to make items.

if you have ingot in quantity you should be talking to Kaiser, Alcoa, Sapa, and Century Aluminum, anyone smaller and you are leaving money on the table.
if you don't have enough material talk to the biggest scrap companies you can DJJ, TMR, CMC, you know the "alphabet guys "

What type of aluminum is it? Probably not a good time to be investing in an aluminum ingot maker as the aluminum mills in the USA are stockpiled out until at least December. Noticed your can price, cast price, wheels price and 6000 series price dropping? Multitude of supply and very little demand.

In most cases no one will buy ore, the ore needs to be enriched to a concentrate, to bring up the grades to a point where it is economical to ship and refine into a metal. Most ore is processed at the mine site into a concentrate and then shipped to various smelters and refiners. This is big business, very few small players in this business.Quote:
