New scrap guy here. I've been cleaning up on old farm yard and i found about 40+ one inch round stock hog gates. They are fairly heavy and want to get the best price for them.
My question: is it worth cutting the gates into 3ft pieces or should i just throw them on the trailer. Is cutting all this steel really worth my time? Do scrap yards give a premium for cut metal?

The couple of yards close to me that advertise their prices are pretty consistent in paying one dollar more per 100 lbs. for "prepared" material (4 feet or smaller), vs. "unprepared" (larger than 4 feet).
Just for the sake of argument, if each of those gates weighs 100 lbs., can you cut it up for a dollar's worth of your time?
Check with your yard. Mine pays me $50 more a ton is it is 3/16 or thicker and less than 18"x18"x36". Other yards have different dimensions. As for if it is worth it, that would depend on how you value your time.
if you have the time and tools id do it. at my yard unppd is 60 or so dollars a ton less then ppd and to me its worth it to prepare it. also check the thickness of it...if its below 1/8th of an inch thick i wouldnt even bother cutting it up
