So, The Wife is Pissed

So, I got home from work an hour and a half ago and went cruising around the property and I found not one but two vehicles in a clearing in the woods on the back side. a 1967 Camaro and a 1971 F100. They've obviously been there a while so they must've been part of his collection so of course I do the only logical thing and drag them to the house with the tractor and I must say, they're in very good condition.

I actually swapped spark plugs, wires, starter, and the battery on the camaro and it runs. Here's the kicker: It has a 454 big block in it. So the wife hears it running and walks out. She asks me about it and eventually gets around to the "So it's not staying right?" The only problem is I love this car. But this makes the twelfth running vehicle that I have so it looks like someone needs to be appeased..... I guess I'll have to go find a nice ring or something.:-/

Har!! I got the same problem!

I collect old bulldozers. And most of them don't run. They'll get restored eventually....all 18 and counting....

Its gotten so I bring home a bunch of flowers a day or two before the lowbed arrives with the latest prize.....

Well I have 322 cars laying around (inherited as seen here: http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/day-l...tml#post254574 ) and then the vehicles I've actually bought which totals up to 326 and while we have the property and capacity for these cars, someone may be a little unhappy with the amount of time I'm in the shop and at work, so maybe the best thing to do here is reserve Saturday or Sunday especially for the wife. And Flowers, and maybe something nice.

Ill take the camaro off your hands so the wife isnt mad at you :)

All I can say is "my gosh!" Thats a lotta cars!

Do you have the papers for most or all of them?

I do have the papers for every car on the property, title, insurance, registration cards dating back to the day my grandfather got them, I even have window stickers for some as well as records of what my grandfather purchased them for and who from. He was organized so it's about two filing cabinets worth of stuff considering I have the papers for the 180ish cars that were in such poor condition that they had to be scrapped.

MattInTheHat, you're a genius. There's a 1932 Mercedes across the road and she's always wanted a car like the one from The Great Gatsby. I'll haul it from the field and send it to the mechanic tomorrow (I'm only good with American made cars).

I acquired a RD6 Cat and Cletrac 40-30? That’s what the numbers appear to be. Did some research. Unsure on their value. Main thing at this point is seeing if I can get them running. Also getting a IH 2606. Worked on it some yesterday. Making some progress, but it's slow going. Property is about 45 minutes away.

I don't have a wife to get annoyed with me. Maybe this needs to be my next project!

You got a couple of examples that I would like to get. Closest I got to the RD6 is a couple of '50s Cats--a D7 and a D8. I think the RD6 is a 3 cylinder engine and is around 1935-40 +/-. Its got one of the very first diesel engines that were just coming out back then. Loggers loved the D6 because it was well balanced, and light enough to be nimble and fast but yet could carve roads and pull all but the biggest logs. (except the monster coastal wood, of course!)

I have a Cletrac 55, from around 1935. It has an aftermarket hydraulic blade on it and is dying to be rebuilt and fired up. Your 40-30 is a couple of years older than my baby.

Most of my crawlers are littler guys from the early 30's: gas Cats: models 20, 22, 28, 30, Allis-Chalmers.

Your 2606, circa early 1960, is similar what I use for daily farm chores! I'm running a 1959 MF 202 (Industrial version of the MF35) that I pretty much grew up on, and a 1962 MF180. My younger boy has a couple of IH tractors, too: a 1939 Model H and a 1948 Cub. They all got worked out on haying this summer. All good fun.

Made a deal with the devil for some rollers for it and then my father sanded and primed the front end. the rear-end will be done next weekend.

I know a guy in Alameda, CA that buys houses with large garages for investment.
He rents the houses, but keeps the garages for himself to keep the cars he keeps accumulating.
Last time I spoke to him many years go (I moved away from the bay Area) he was in the 30 car range.

I had a 69 Camaro years ago with a built 350 4 speed and managed to scare the crap out of my Wife and piss her off at the same time.

Those were some good times but I had to get rid of her.

jimicrk, my Father and I race a 2012 Shelby with a 5.4L in it that he built that has 1600 horsepower. Had to drag it from NC to Chattanooga Tennessee just to find someone to dyno it. Empty it was rolling at 297 mph. I somehow got her in the car with me at the strip and I swear she was still shaking a week later.

I have a 2002 Trans-am pushing about 600 hp that's my daily. If the wife and I are going somewhere or if I'm going to work I have a 2015 Chevy 2500, oddly she wont ride anywhere in the Firebird with me.......
