Hey guys, I have a question.
When you go out and pickup ewaste how much do you mark it down from the price your getting? For example if you're getting $9 a pound, do you mark it down 33% to $6 a pound or does it vary from item to item? I could see marking down the least valuable things up to 75%. Thanks for the feedback guys.
Free is always better. But your just a small guppy in this big ewaste pond so don't try to pay Ewasted's or PTS's prices or I foresee you going out of business shortly. The key word is your doing the pick-ups. You have time and material invested in getting the ewaste so take that into consideration also. If your picking up from a business, your doing them a service by safely removing their ewaste and recycling it responsibly instead of dumping it in a landfill.Quote:

Very tough question to answer. Computers differ from pickup to pickup. In one pickup, I may get a desktop that basically only has the mother board left and is all scrap. In that same load, I may get an i7, with 8 gb ram and an awesome gaming graphics card. If any of these components work, it greatly increases the value of thebunit. I can get 15 cents a pound for LCD monitors semi locally or I can send to our buyers. Our buyers have certain tests / criteria that these must meet, so your never really sure how much you will get on average. Laptops are another thing. Our buyers have different categories and prices. If your picking up a large lot, it could be a pain to look thru each one and grade it before offering a price. In addition, there are components that you may be able to sell for more than scrap. I also take some items at near or even above what the local yards are paying. You may have to take some crap (even at a slight loss) to land the mother load or the whale.
prices here are a lot different in iowa I pay $1complete 50cents incomplete for both towers and laptops. 60clb for single boards 75clb for duel sockets and up for telecom I tried paying higher prices but people were lazy not cleaning boards or would shop around and save up but then get lazy again and sell to me cause they did not want to ship or other silly reasons so I lowered my prices and buy everything for the most part and since then have never run out.
free pickups all the time free drop off in town and I charge for crts and appliances. big thing always answer the phone and always pick up no matter how small factoring in some losses for the bigger picture is cheaper than advertising and face to face kindness
