Dehumidifiers
Looking at a bulk purchase of used residential sized dehumidifiers. Will probably get more for them on Craigslist if operational, but was wondering if anyone has scrapped them out and what value they may bring. I know the one I own is a heavy little sucker (probably 40lbs +). Thanks for any reply

I tear them apart for the copper. Couldn't tell you how much in one.

Thanks for the reply. Seems that with 60+ views others are interested in how to scrap out as well, so any other input would be appreciated. Any specific things to look for, or watch out for? Thanks again

Take both front and back off. Cut off the cord for Insulated Copper. At some point, it may be easier just to break the plastic. In front, there'll be wiring, a switch (brass) and motor. In back will be the condenser and Aluminum/Copper Evaporator Coils. If you cut these you will release freon (technically - refrigerant). There are copper lines to the condenser. The Evaporator Coils can go as Copper/Aluminum or you can cut the fins from the copper tubes (I use a grinder for this - kind of over-kill, but it gets the job done). The copper tubes will be #2 Copper.
