They will pick it up at my curb for free. I can now grab monitors along with the computers and they will get recycled properly at no charge.
I have been wanting to get with a charity of some sort and help them with a recycling drive, but needed an avenue for everything that would come in. The city just made that step for me without me spending time calling around.

Watching that, I'm led to think that it's their intention to make money by culling the scrap from them and then disposing of the leftovers. I'm not sure they're going to be very happy coming out to your place and carting off just the leftovers, especially since you're essentially going to be a competitor...
On edit: Or am I reading your intentions wrong? is it that you're only interested in the computers themselves, and aren't interested in taking apart the monitors? (It's 5 a.m. I'm not quite awake yet...)
My intention is to find working monitors, sell them for maybe $10 each on Craig's list. I may scrap the non working ones, not sure yet. I intend on seeing if they have a facility that actually recycles the tubes. That would be guilt free as I am trying to be a responsible scrapper.
