I Am Such a ....

....... Scrapper . By default all I see is metal . Found 5 steel doors good weight.
The frames I had to remove cement ,all in all a prime scrap find .

Next some short 50#
But finally this is why I'm such a scrapper 4 full glass doors with typical push bar door lock
aluminum frame construction includes also some AL door jams . Naturally when I saw them I said ALUMINUM .50 #

So in reality they must be worth more then scrap ...... a piece of glass that size is worth $150 to $200
(new) but heck . I know I'll end up dismantling and selling the AL . the glass ?? ends as trash
Any tips ???

glass is a hard sell

If they're good doors, I'd throw them on Facebook. The scrap value won't be too much for one door, so if you can sell it as a whole, then why not?

More than scrap value is always a winning proposition.

Those solid aluminum framed doors are great. I got one from a bank clean out I did recently, the door without glass got me $23 at the scrap yard just for that piece alone.

Must weigh 40# in AL

5 years ago I once found similar and gave glass to a owner of commercial property
he did use it after collage kids busted glass ( it was same size ) That person just acted
like he had it coming to him (the glass)

I had a good day $75 at yard and a nice find on the way home .
BTW the yards seem slow
but that could just be an off day.

I got about $350 worth of window frames from a taco bell someone hit With there car once. Those commercial ones are the heaviest but I'm afraid the glass isn't worth much, I know businesses I've gotten those doors from where they replace the whole door instead of just the glass. That's my favorite aluminum by far but I haven't done much with the glass in any besides throw it away.

If you have enough windows with frames post them on Craigslist and spin them to DYI people to build small green houses.

I've done a fair amount of commercial construction over the years ...public bldgs, businesses, hospitals, etc. Everything that goes in for doors has to meet fire code & life safety code. The stuff is quite pricey. A lot of times it's like Mercedes Benz quality ? Just guessing but just the push bar unit alone could run 300.00 - 400.00 $ these days ?

I have no idea if there's a market out there looking to buy used commercial doors & hardware. If there is, then the value of the commercial items would be quite a bit more than scrap.

It would be important to do the removal as carefully as possible. Condition is everything.
