introduction

My name is Tim, and im currently employed at a Scrapyard in central NY. Myself and my family used to own the yard, but now we just work here. I enjoy coming on this site and reading what all of you guys have to say. I like to read different opinions and try to learn more about the business.

Welcome to SMF from Southern Cali. My understanding is just like all industries, "consolidation" is and has been the normal in the scrap yard business. I try to deal with family operated business as much as possible, just as the "family Farm" has all but disappeared, so will the "family business" unfortunately!

yeah you got that right. i'm only 26 years old, but ive known alot of our customers since i was a little kid. we've built a real strong relationship with alot of our scrappers and they have been very loyal over the years. My grandfather passed away and my grandmother retired so we arent exactly a mom and pop shop anymore :( we were bought out by a corporation
