Well....There goes the neighbor hood

Cleaning out some scrap at my parents over the weekend the, Father doesn't want nothing to do with hauling steel to the yard but he has no problem bringing it home lol
happened upon and old toy I have long forgotten about. So it's always a good time digging through the piles getting rid of what's no longer needed or time has taken too much of a toll on saving the good stuff pulling out one or two for a project. Any number of things could have been under that sheet of metal roof and plastic almost hidden by leafs and needles and I mean crazy anything. asked about said mound of leaves and needles to which neither of us could remember and curiosity fixed the memory issue.

Well, pulled this out of the woods after putting it there 16 years ago.
Glad I listened to him when I parked it for the winter. on blocks, bucket on engine, tarp over the whole thing. Changed the gas, oil and greased everything... just spent 4 hours ripping up the neighbor hood with my son. This thing is gonna get ME in trouble not the kid
5hp Briggs motor, chain drive, 0-22 in about a second an a half.A few cracks in the tires I can assume the tubes are not much better off. replace those pull the motor get it tuned up fresh coat of paint and this old girl will be ready for the races.
also saw a few of the old dirt bikes but I gotta go baby steps with the wife ;)

I bet some of the old neighbors on the block remembered you and just shaking their head saying, oh gawd I thought we were rid of him. :rolleyes:

Around here, if we see someone with a jacked up pickup with big tires and all the mods, we say "40 going on 18". 'Cause its usually some guy old enough to have the cash to buy all that shzt.

For NH, it must be "30 going on 12" :))

Looks like fun, though! That kart looks like it was put away just last winter, not 16 winters ago!! Now, you said "dirt bikes"....whatcha got back there?

Ha, I bet.. guess my father used to take some flak as it tears up the dirt roads pretty good. If you look in the pic the drive tire is about bald >:)
My son is introducing our neighbors to it now.. I'll assume it isn't going to shut off until it's dark or he runs out of gas..whichever comes first.
Note to self- hide the big gas tank in the morning

Not much I rode all that stuff too pieces..sold the good ones to buy first my car and that's whats left lots of pieces lol
There's a really old Harley 50 cc we might try to get running if we can get a few parts. couple trashed Yamaha skeletons that could be franken biked and a old honda cr125 1973?? maybe, that's still running.. sorta
there's a few more out there but they are all stripped out.

I think that Harley is a rare beast--seems to me they tried sticker slapping some Italian bikes with their name for a while back then. Maybe find a buyer on eBay for the hulk? Everyone loves the Harley name nowadays!

The little CR125 should be a great little screamer for your boy. It has the ability to annoy neighbors in a 10 block radius around your place, even with a muffler!! You should be able to find Honda parts on eBay for it. It seems to me they were a decent dirt bike for their time...lots of power.

I was having great fun on a '72 Hodaka Super Rat at about that era. It was a 100cc machine that I eventually bought a kit for to boost it to 125cc. I rode the bag off it and traded it off for a '79 Yam SC500 motocrosser, which I still have. But not in as good a shape as your kart!! Sure miss that old Hodie!

yeah in time he will get the 125 I'm sure, I seen him looking at it more than once, and gramps took notice also and already has a few parts stashed away.
he's only 8 the bike is just way too much for him right now, looked at some 85's in the area that would be a perfect starter bike. He rides quads and the mini snow machine at his buddy's house, He want's both of those too.. We'll see there's usually one or two around that need a little work that a guy can get cheap, but gotta be careful the kids stuff get's beat up pretty bad.
let's just say this family has a long history of tearing up the town.

Hey guys, those old 70's motorcycles can be worth a lot of money. A lot of people are spending big bucks on those old bikes. They even have vintage motocross races.


NH is your CR 125 gray or is it red. I know Honda changed the old Elsinores to red around 75. Do a little research on that bike and you'll be surprised at what it's worth.
