My dumb ebay move

So yesterday I was shipping a bunch of things that have sold on ebay the previous day. Multiple packages to multiple buyers. Well, while boxing up things and printing out shipping labels, I printed out a label for a user who I didn't notice hadn't paid yet. Ok, no biggie, I'll just hold on to the package until he does.

Checking the order, I notice an ebay note that the user is no longer a member of ebay. He was a new member, registered back in the middle of March, and had already received an 88 positive rating.

Luckily it was a very small, low dollar order.

My question, does anyone know if it's possible to cancel the shipping and get the money refunded? It's a USPS Priorty label and I'm only out $5 if not so it's not a huge deal. Still, $5 is $5...

Yes, you can cancel a label. I think it takes about a month for the post office to process and give the refund. They may even do it automatically if you don't use the label in the month.

I ship about 5 things courier everyday. If you don't use the label, if it doesn't get scanned, it shouldn't even show up on your invoice. To be safe just call USPS, tell them it never shipped and you want to cancel the tracking number.

if you go tot the email that ebay sent you for creating the label. there is a URL you can click to cancel the postage. it does take a few weeks.

With USPS there is No auto refund for not using the label
You have to VOID the label for a refund
Reason it takes a month for the refund is to be sure you have not used the label

That is incorrect
With USPS you are charged as soon as you create the label
As Part Time Scrapper pointed out there will be a link in the eMail to void the label
You have 120 hours / 5 days to the minute

Once you VOID the label, it takes about a month to get the refund because USPS wants to be sure you don't use the label

NOW with UPS and FedEx >> They don't charge until the label is used >> so there would be nothing to Cancel / VOID

Left side, under all selling, click shipping labels. Another screen pops up. Find the label, then select void. All done,. Refund in 2 weeks.
