Hello From Charlotte
I have been reading this forum for well over a year now. Just joined about a month ago. I was in construction/remodeling most of my adult life so I have always been involved in scrapping. I used to love cutting all the copper and brass pipes into clean, small sections that I could put in 5 gallon buckets to bring in to the yard and walk away with a nice stack of cash. When the economy went to s**t around 2008 my Dad and I bought a retail store that sold refilled ink and toner cartridges. It was a great money maker back in the day, but now it's a dying business. I still refill toner cartridges out of our warehouse and make good money but for anyone here looking into the retail ink refill business - DON'T DO IT. The good thing about the retail store was it brought a lot of opportunities to us. One guy walking in with some genuine HP toners he wanted to sell got us started on Ebay. Now we have a couple Ebay stores that are well established and make good money. We also started offering computer repair and got into auctions for computers, etc. And printers/printer repair was a natural fit. We started selling printers and computers on Ebay and then parts. Of course you will always have junk computers, printers, etc. which brought me here. I have been learning so much from reading on this forum and I want to thank you all for the great advise and the shared knowledge. I have bins/boxes full of boards and other components that I have separated the best I can. I am going to bring them to one of the buyers on this forum who is in NC. This will be my first Ewaste load and trust me I have worked hard on it. We closed our store last month and now work out of our warehouse full time. We have several people who bring in Ewaste. We always try for selling as a working item first, but when its questionable it goes in my scrap collection. I suppose that's long enough for an introduction. I have something I would like an opinion on but I will leave that as another post
