Had a guy call me asking if I'd be interested in purchasing some untested printers he has. I told him if so it'd be same price for all. Any opinions on what a fair price to tell him I'll pay a piece would be? I've haven't really scrapped a whole lot of them to have an average idea of what they'd be worth scrap wise so figured maybe somebody with more knowledge on them could give me an idea. Thanks in advance

If they're newer business machines there may be some resale value, either whole or for the parts. If they're just consumer items, there's not much meat on the bone there. For the consumer items, maybe a token $0.01/ lb if they bring it to you; otherwise, charge for their disposal.
I got one recently and I don't pursue selling them at all. I did check this one and found it was possible to sell it but it would likely take a long time to sell. I figured I might have been able to put $20-$30 after expenses. With little space I choose to scrap it. While I was scrapping it I found it had an internal power supply similar to a laptop power supply but without sides.
I held onto the power supply because it could sell for $45. I sold it withing 2 weeks on ebay and netted about $38. Don't ask the make model on this one but the business type copiers can have a market. It also depends on your time.
Other wise I would charge to remove them since my yard would dock me for having so much plastic. Good luck, Mike
Are they corporate LaserJets, or plain-Jane inkjets? The inkjets are 90% plastic. I throw them straight onto the recycling trailer.
Thanks guys. Appreciate the responses. They're mostly regular residential printers. I was hoping he was gonna say they were industrial ones but wasn' t that lucky lol. I was kinda thinking it would be pointless to pay for them. I haven't ever really got much out the ones I did scrap other than the couple little motors, a little steel and tiny amount of wire but none of it was enough that it really added up to much. He did say he'd deliver but I doubt the majority even have power cords on them still too that makes it worth even less. I'll tell him if he wants to give them to me just to get rid of them that's fine but not interested in buying them. Thanks guys
Most definitely don't pay for them then. There is too small amount of sellable scrap for the time it takes to pay for them, and I found they are almost impossible to sell second hand.Quote:
