Noobs: Go the extra mile...

Thought I would post this in the newbie section but might be a good reminder for vets too.

The pic Below is the area where one of my clients piles thier scrap. When it gets to be a good size mess, they give me a call. It's all cleaned up right???

Wrong. Yeah the metal is a picked up and the pile is gone but the job isn't done yet. Part of my truck that never leaves my truck is a broom, a rake and a shovel.

Some might say that stuff is biodegradable or will blow away with the next wind. That is true, most of it is just corn husks and leaves and stuff that blew in from the field next door. It only took me an extra 5 minutes to rake that stuff up and throw it in the dumpster. Composing this thread is taking me longer than raking up took lol.

But it appears better and leaves a better image of my work!

Still not done. Get yourself one of these and run over the area quick. Might save your client or you a flat tire.

Leave it cleaner than it was before and you will always get called back. Nice job and post.

When I would do a clean out/up job or even when I did carpentry jobs and such. I would always leave things better then they were. If something caught my eye that was out of place and distracted from the work I had done. I would make it right even if it wasn't part of the job.

I remember a antique dealer that had many interesting little sayings that he would use.

and my favorite that would be said when something broke or was wore out and such.

Going an extra inch can appear as going an extra mile. Seperatw yourself and become memorable; it is how business is built.

We all know it is very important that the customer is satisfied with our work and the services we provide. I work hard to make sure that happens, I work even harder to make sure I'm satisfied with each and every project, big or small and every customer gets that. If you satisfy the customer, as well as yourself, it makes it that much easier to keep doing a good job everyday.

pjost - Thank you for posting this thread. You do your work like a true professional, good job and it shows you have pride in your work.

indeed this is true with me to best vintage radio job came from a landlord of a hoarder and helped cleaned the place until he was done for the week that was almost a $3500 score and still get stuff from him a few times a year so it pays to be clean and clean the world a little bit more
