I have access to a large quantity of used (but still usable) tires. All car and some LT tires. Craigslist works sometimes if they're in a desirable size and condition but I'm looking more for a dealer of some sort. I'm in chicago area...I must be missing something, I've seen pickups loaded with used tires headed towards the city
Any help would be appreciated, I just want to see if I could get anything for them.
Used tire shop. I have 4 of them that I sell bulk tires to.
I don't know where exactly you are in Chicago, but if you're near the outskirts, check with places that deal with agricultural equipment. Farmers don't need the nicest tires, so that may be an outlet for your "lesser" ones.

Agree with mador... You should see some of the tires that are on the hay wagons out back...
What can I say? We're farmers, too.
Our baler will only be moving at 3 MPH most times, and won't travel any farther than 50 linear miles in a year- most in the field. If it holds air, it'll last for at least ten years.
Also, look into eBay. I've bought many, many car tires that way. They just shrink-wrapped or taped a label right to the tire, and gave it to FedEx or UPS.
I have heard of taxi companies buying used tires. Might be a good match to your product.
Used tire shops or if they don't really have any life left in them local race tracks use them as soft walls even go cart tracks.
Around where I live some farmers will use old junk tire halves. They will be tires that have been cut like a bagel or bread bun through the middle.
They cut many of the tires while they are still on the rims. They just cut the rubber then separate the tire halves from the rim.
Farmers like using these half tires as when you place them all over large tarps that cover silage and such, you just place the tire halves with the outside of the tire up so that it won't collect water.
I have seen tire halves of all sizes used.
Just thought I would bring it up in case it was of interest to others.
As for used tires that seem good. It all depends on how old they are. As tires get older even new old stock tires become "unstable" for hi speed use. But the old tires of proper size can find many a use for slow moving wheeled things.
I have seen many of the donut spares used for wheel in boat docks here in Minnesota. They use the rim with tire and as it is something that is not meant to travel on roads and at any speed the axles are just heavy pipe with slightly larger pipe as a bearing that is welded to the spare tire rim. Much like a wheel on a child's wagon or tricycle.
I have also seen them used for cutting torch carts and such as they are a smaller yet heavy tire and rim for the size. The carts I have seen make the bearings in much the same way as the docks and such. I have seen many carts and wagons that used the donut spares and had good salvaged axles on them. When a person has a number of those donut spares you can always find a interested buyer for them.
Just some interesting uses for those small donut spares.
Also The axles and tires,rims from the very small cars are in demand for making small trailers and carts from. In the past I sold some of the rear axles with their nice tires and rims as well as the spindles and nice tires and rims off the front wheel drive cars. I would bring them to the flea market and they would sell within a few weekends for fair values.
That's really good to know that you are reusing old tires. You do not mention your exact loaction but you can ask petrol pump shop or car garage for this selling tires.
