Back 'yall!

Hello everyone, has certainly been a while since I have logged in! Hope everything is well in your neck of the woods. My scrap production is way way low (no calls or curb co :(. Also the prices are down. I have been working my but off at work making the $$$ so im still alright. If these prices continue, I might have to change my hobby :/

Thankfully the gas prices are down ($2.55 where I am) but in the world of curb shop scrappers, it just means more competition. I have never seen so many other scrappers out before and its not even the spring cleanup season yet!! I feel like the whole city will be out whenever that week comes around. Haven't even called my local yard to check the prices, but just watching marcelstjean on youtube being very upset about the prices makes me upset i guess lol.

I guess my plan is to still go curb shopping, only parking instead of driving. I'm going to talk to as many scrappers as possible and I will start buying anything resealable items on craigslist. Mostly buying lawnmowers and big snow blowers that i can fix up, but open to anything with an engine. I feel like if i can give them some $$$ and give them more space in their truck, i wouldnt think they would refuse my offer. Plus the truck is getting all fixed up, all body work/scratches/rust/undercoat will be fixed on her.

Hopefully if the prices go back up, i will be back more often :)

Welcome back

Down here only the hard core scrapers are still working, most of the other guys are gone. I rarely see anyone anymore looking for scrap on trash nights so mostly anything that's put out I get to take. The yard is mostly empty except for me and the other hard core guys plus buisnesses who scrap their own stuff, it's the same people every time I go pretty much.

Couple of questions..

Why would lower scrap keep you from our wonderful forums? Not like we have a "You must scrap this much in a day to post" limit. Just because your not currently getting stuff doesn't mean you need to stop all together.

Why aren't you finding new avenues for your scrap besides curbco? You don't need to pay, but if you want free stuff you will just have to work harder.

Your a smart cookie, why give up so easily? Isn't a hobby something you enjoy doing whether you make tons of money or not? So what profits are down..if it's a hobby why you worried? Not like your worrying about feeding your family with the profits from you hobby.

Why am I asking you all this? It could be I'm just mean. Or perhaps I'm trying in a beat around the bush kind of way trying to say..don't give up, keep to your plan, regardless of how tough it gets.

You laid the groundwork, worked hard..why give up? See it through an profit when others are sitting at home watching the world go by.

Either way, good luck an hope you stick around regardless of how much scrap your finding.

Gotta agree with Sir, why give up?
Stay on the forum, some good information has been posted recently.
Change is good, it keeps the mind from stagnation. Look for new ways of doing things, like Sirscrapalot suggested.
Break things down more, knock on doors, pass out flyers.
Ask yourself what haven't I tried yet.

So don"t scrap....advertise to do tuneups on lawnmowers. Make it a house call, offer to go to them and then once there look around and mention that you also take scrap. Get it before it gets to the curb. Dr.Bennys Mower Service
