SMF members I've met...
I thought I'd start this thread because I'm probably going to meet 2 forum members in 3 days time.
Today I met up with silverockdzl out at his place on the edge of town. He's a busy, hands-on dad who like me has a 9-5 job and does a bit of scrapping on the side. But I think he's much more organized than I'm !! It ended up that our wives both work at the same medical facility and unit and that I also know his MiL. Even though we're only a metro of about 200K what's the chances of that happening by 2 random guys on a internet forum!!??
He has a nice set-up with a detached shop in the back yard where he can do his work. He kept saying the shop was a bit messy but I thought it was well organized. Pretty cool digs!!
I got to watch his homemade treadmill motor wire stripper in action. An awesome machine in my simple mechanics worldview. Nice work M !!!
Here's the title of his SMF post about the wire stripper:

I met up with Patriot76 on one of his whirlwind trips through the region. A high energy guy!! Found out he's about half a dozen years older than me but doesn't look it. Certainly reminded me of his cowboy roots (how come those guys all tend to be skinny!!??). M, I hope you made it to your next appointment on time. Too bad they don't don't put afterburners on those Dodges to cut that 100 miles down to size ;)!!

Thank you Dakotarog. It was a pleasure to meet you and visit about the most important things in life: trapping, hunting, fishing, and scrapping.
Made it to the appointment late, but they accepted my excuses. o:)

DakotaRog, don't forget the big invite on March 29th. You won't see my setup, but I'll sing you a song. Free crt monitors in tow. :x (Don't tell the wife).

Have fun with your get together, try not to need bail. I don't know any bail bondsman in Timbuktu. Nor BFE.

Yunkman- I haven't forgotten. Right now I'm trying to skin out all the rest of my semi-frozen fur before it goes bad with our warm weather. I'm glad spring is here. I just wish it didn't just come all at once. There has been about a 75 degree temp swing since sometime last week when it was -14 F on my deck to 60 F today. We'll see how fast I can move my knife in the morning before work...

DakotaRog, It was good to meet you. It was fun to talk about scrapping with another person who sees the benefits. I am guessing some of my family and friends think I am pretty weird for doing the scrapping thing. But, like I say, I want to use my shop to generate some extra income. So, for now, scrappin is my game. I do want to find other sources of income but for now I enjoy tearing things apart and reselling what I can.
It is definitely a small world. I actually played college football a few years back with the owner of scrapmart. He is 3 years younger than I am and I didn't know him that well until I started this venture. It has turned into a good friendship. Let me know how those printers turn out. I will keep you in mind if I get scrap that is too much for me to take on. I look forward to meeting up again sometime.

I met up with Yunkman and his wife yesterday. They were up on their way to do a band gig over at a newer casino that's sits just across one of the state lines here to take advantage of my metro's population size. Anyway, Yunkman brought up 10 crt monitors that he just didn't want to put in his scrap car bodies as shred. I took 6 and gave silverock... 4. Was hoping to sit in with lunch with them but the interstate exit diner was packed as its a popular place for a growing bedroom town and they had to get their euipment set up in an hour+ or so. Great, salt-of-the-earth people. YM would probably give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Sorry H, I didn't get over to the casino to hear you all play. Got involved with too much family stuff later in the afternoon and early evening. Maybe next time ....

Over the years I've been scrapping I have met Computerscrapper. He used to be a buyer south of Ft Wayne, In. Also have met two of the buyers of ewaste over around Cleveland. Had the pleasure of meeting Hypoman last summer. If I can free up a little time I plan to meet Timy up north of me to help him sort out what he has for escrap, what has value and what doesn't. (he saved it all)
Met the owner and crew of AdvantageCartridge, very nice people. Talked with Ace a few times on the phone but haven't been able to meet yet. Met the crew at Ace Recycling out of Ft. Wayne but the buyers kept changing and every time they did the prices went down. That's about it for now.
Almost met miked but his schedule was pretty full when he was up here visiting relatives.
