Came across 2 of the clicky keyboards and getting ready to list on Ebay but need to know if there's a box available that they will fit in. I know this was talked about a long time ago but could not find it in all the searching. I plan on shipping by USPS but Fedex/UPS is available if I want to travel. This box was made for shipping board games I think but the keyboards fit quite well. Any help appreciated
They have med sized priority boxes that are rectangle . I think most people use them for clothing . I would wrap it in bubble wrap . Wrap that in a grocery bag or 2 and stuff it in there . 12.95 anywhere in the U.s. Or a simillar sized box could be a little cheaper .
I got a im model m part # 1393464 I'd # 5003129 says 1984 on the back . Still trying to clean it up . I have never sold one of these before so let me know how you make out and if you have the same part # . I'm green on the key boards as well .
The "Board Game" box for USPS priority mail is the Large Flat Rate Box is the slim style. Are you shipping these together? I'm not sure both would fit with room for protection.
This is what I would do, and is generally how I run all of my listings:
I do the free shipping thing on everything, but I don't get myself stuck in one shipping method. I choose "Standard Shipping" for the shipping method. This includes USPS Priority (this is actually expedited but no matter), USPS First Class, UPS, and Fedex. After something sells, I usually know which to pick to ship. Closer addresses can get priority for very cheap, heavier items might go flat rate or fedex. Also, shipping by weight via priority can be much cheaper than flat rate if the destination is close.
If you just want to use USPS, know that the most expensive way to ship one of them would be the large flat rate. But, it could be cheaper if you ship by weight. Just check when it sells.
Hope that helps - As for a different box, make one. Just wrap really well in multiple layers of bubble wrap, and just make a box around that. You can even just use two pieces of cardboard and staple them like an envelope. Just make sure there is tons of bubble wrap, and it's tight.
If memory serves me they fit in a Regional B long box, but you have to have USPS ship those to you and it all depends on the Region they are going to as to whether or not that comes out cheaper than the Large Flat Rate board game box...
I hate to bump an older thread, but I wanted to let you (and everyone else) know exactly what you have there. IBM clicking keyboards, and almost any brand clicking keyboards, in decent cleaned-up condition fetch $50-$100/ea. Some of the rarer ones are even higher than that.
There are two large forum communities where you can post your wares and completely skip ebay--geekhack.org and deskthority.net. The market for these is also worldwide, so you'll regularly have international buyers on both of these sites.
There are companies that exist that do nothing but buy these keyboards in large lots for refurbishing and resale. You can get well more than scrap prices. Many of them sell on the above websites.
Just wanted to help keep these wonderful keyboards from being destroyed. I have almost 20 of them and got lucky when I bought them almost 20 years ago for 50 cents each. I'm even using one now to make this post. I use them on every computer I own.
How do you tell if it is a clicky keyboard?

OK. Every single keyboard I have used makes a clicking noise. So maybe.. What keyboards are not the clicky type?
So there should be a model number attached on the bottom somewhere. Post it and let's see if what you have is actually a clicking one. All of them make noise, but these REALLY make noise. And you really feel it too.Quote:
