okay so along with scrapping I also collect video games. most consoles working or not go for more than scrap value. the main thing to look for are color and design variants. most of these are limited in number so I would hate to see one get scrapped. look them up!!!!
I hear you on the saving them from the scrap pile. I have many boxes of older gaming items that are parts or damaged. I will grab and save what I can get my hands on as I do enjoy collecting and hoarding interesting curios of many types.Quote:

I have a very nice collection of Hello Kitty consoles and handhelds with many of the items in my collections being complete with box.
Here is a story from the past. About 25 years ago I saw a ad in a free paper for someone wanting rid of a bunch of Atari 2600 and such parts units and such. I went and met with him. He was what you would call a over grown kid that lived with his mother in a trailer park.
They had to move after many years of living there and the BIG kid had a passion for Atari 2600 systems. I ended up getting a full pickup load of boxes filled with Atari stuff. Mostly pretty parted out or damaged stuff, but there is so much of it that I'm sure there are many good usable parts in the bunch. I say that as I still have every bit of it as it has been stored away since I hauled it home about 25 years ago.
Thanks for the post letting others know to keep a eye out for any gaming items, as there is always collectors that will want to have a chance at buying it for more then scrap. And the nice thing about salvaging gaming items is that they are mostly plastics that most times end up in the landfills.
Don't over look original boxes and instructions manuels as well as they also have value . Condition is king
