Auto fuel tanks
My yard requires a large hole in auto fuel tanks. This is easy with plastic ones I just use a cordless drill with a hole saw. I was curious if anyone had any great way of doing metal tanks? I currently punch hole in them with a large bar and a sledge but I would sure like to fine a better way. I have thought of just drilling them but I'm a little leery of heat buildup.

Heat build up is not your problem. It would be the sparks. Both can be dealt with by filling the tank with water before cutting into or drilling. And you must be drilling into water. You do not want a pocket of gas vapors in there if you cause a spark.
I hope this helps.

I use the tractor to flatten the tanks and the pallet forks to punch a hole. Usually have to bring the front end up off the ground to make sure the hole is big enough. The wife says I'm really playing and having fun. Doesn't believe me that I'm really working hard.

Thanks. I was thinking about the hay spear on my tractor but I hadn't tried it yet. I'll give it a try.
