Connectors from UPS's?
I have been parting down UPS's for a while and selling the innards to my
local scrap yard. I have been cutting off the connectors that look like the
one in the picture and they have two silver looking ends on the wire. Anyone
know if they are made with silver and what their composition might be?
I just smash the plastic connectors and pull out the silvery connector ends.
Should I continue to keep doing this or just sell the whole connection with
the copper wire I harvest from the UPS's?
Thanks!

Grind one and you should see that it is #2 copper.
You know what to do with that!

I will give that a try and see what I find.

They look like Ag plated Cu. In the end its #2 Cu.

I took a box knife to it and peeled some back to show copper for sure.
Thank you for the quick answers.

Am I going color blind? They look gold plated, making them Au plated.

No you are not, but you need to know how to tell the plating by looking at it too. Au plating does not tarnish and stays bright in a protective shell. Additionally Au plating would be deeper in color. Silver has a yellow hue to it as it starts to tarnish.
I also believe the lighting plays into this too.

Glad to hear that, I was starting to think I would have one more beer and who knows what they would look like then? Thanks For your good explanation though as that does help on some pin sorting I still need to do.

I removed some from several UPS's I scrapped. They looked like brass and that's what bucket they went in but I'll be sure and look closer next time. Thanks for the info.

That's a connector that moves power (electricity) isn't it?
seems odd it would be gold plated.
