Need help to understand the scrap business of copper wires

Hi All,

I am from Mauritius (Indian Ocean). I would like to invest in supplying copper from electrical wires. I don't have any idea of how the business except that I saw on youtube the machines needed to strip copper from the electrical wires. I would like to know the following:

1. How profitable is this business line?
2. What is minimum quantity (lbs or tons) needed to start the business?
3. What are the raw materials needed?
4. Any idea about the costs for freight on exporting the copper?
5. Where can I get loads of electrical wires?

Firstly welcome from Central NY.. secondly, seems like you're after copper only which is cool but keep in mind that collecting copper only limits you to collecting other things such as Aluminum, Steel, Tin or Precious Metals like Gold/Silver/Cobalt/etc.. I don't recall anything specific on the forum reguarding these so let's see if I can help answer your questions.

1. Depends what you put into it - if you don't put any time or effort into it, you won't make any money.
2. There is none.
3. Your copper wire I'm guessing.
4. This would be something you would have to look into depending on where you plan to export to.
5. There's copper wiring in alot of places including CAT wire, Coax wire, Molex wire, etc..

Word of caution: don't be like the thieves we have here in the states and break into an abandoned structure because it's abandoned for copper. That's poor sportsmanship, is illegal, and is generally looked down apon on here. Most newer extension cords and PC wire have aluminum wire in them. Some older ones have copper wire in em. If there are any contractors near you you might give it a go asking them for their copper wire but don't be taken aback if they say no.

Your 1-5 list is ass backwards. Don't go buying an expensive wire stripper until you have #5 figured out. Secure a continual source of wire. At that point you are more or less doubling the the value of your copper by stripping it. Of course that depends on what you pay for the wire also. I always figure at least 60% shrinkage. If you can get the wire at the right price, the stripper pays for itself in no time.

First of all, gold wire is much more profitable. DO NOT invest in a copper wire processor. Spend the extra money and get the gold wire processor. Power supply wires in ALL computers contain 67.892% gold that can be easily harvested with the gold wire processor. I ordered one from Gold Wire Processing Co. and they sent two by mistake. I will sell one to you very reasonably.

It seems to me you are attempting to bite off a big chunk. You may want to start slow so you will learn the scrap bussiness instead of throwing away alot of your money.

What is your local market for metals like?(I really would like to know the answer to this question) Start there before you start looking for containers to ship your copper to other countries. Mike

A guy blazes in with one post. Has no idea about anything related to scrapping anything. Has no idea where to get the goods he says he wants to scrap. He wants to know if exporting the wire he has no idea how to find or how to process or how much he can expect to make, will be profitable when he hasn't taken 10 pounds of copper fittings in to scrap?...

I am from Washington (the state). I would like to working in the field of veterinary medicine. I don't have any idea of how the business is run except that I saw on youtube the table needed to operate on animals. I would like to know the following:

How profitable is this business line?
What is minimum quantity (rooms or scalpels) needed to start the business?
What are the operating materials needed?
Any idea about the costs for disposing of bio-hazard animal parts wastes?
Where can I get loads of dogs?
