Fairly certain it's a muffler, since it's the only thing there, but wanted to be certain before I haul it to the yard.
It's a 1970 Ford F100.

Muffler. Several ways to tell:
Too big for a cat.
Only thing in exhaust line.
Cats started in 1975.
(If it's off the vehicle, look inside - a cat will have a screen on both ends.)
yea i will second that its a muffler.
Thanks. That's what I suspected.
Not much worth pulling off these old junkers. Though it did have the factory tank and what appeared to be 2 after market saddle type tanks, all tied together with copper and brass, so I pulled that mess apart.
That is a muffler like a cherry bomb or something.
Yep. Glass pack, a.k.a. cherry bomb.
If i am not sure if cat or muffler i just cut one end and put rod inside or look.
I know this threads a little outdated and all, but when it comes to glasspacks they usually sell for 5-10 bucks a piece used on craigslist...just a thought
