I picked up some computers today. One laptop and a tower. Got home and checked the laptop and it's working fully far as I can tell. It's nothing special hardware wise. Toshiba Satellite, 1.40g celeron M processor, 40g HD, DVD drive, 15" screen. Running windows XP. Hate to scrap it though. Wondering if I should list it online and see if I could get something for it. What would you do?

Folks...it's really not hard to get pricing info from ebay or any other source. You have the ability to be online, you have the ability to find the going rate for a older an used laptop.
An before it's asked...Put in the info, wait for the results then click on the option to show ones that have sold.
Or you know..get Terapeak or another market research program, an do the same.

Anywhere between $30-100 and that's an estimate, it's hard to guestimate ebay. It's possible it could for more then that or less then that.
As others have said, you might want to ebay it. If you put into a google search string the words "ebay" "type of computer", you will come up with some interesting historical information on previous ebay posts in regards to your laoptop.Quote:

I've never sold any used computers. What should I do wipe the HD and reinstall the OS?
Wipe the hard drive, but don't install any base software/operating system. In that way you prevent being accused of selling copyright/intellectual material over state lines which could be a federal offense governed by the Attorney General, not to mention whatever other state laws you should be complying with.Quote:

Pretty much. You'll need to install drivers some times, and you may want to throw on an office suite (LibreOffice is a nice free one), and a few other goodies.
Being a Celeron M, it probably will bring less than $50. But, how much exactly, I can't tell you. Give it a shot, and see what happens!
