I have an old dodge van about to breakdown with a restitution lein thats a lot of money. The scrap yard wont take the non transferable titlewithout filing abandoned and the fine is 500.this is in northern az. I don't think I can cut the thing up myself. Would someone cut it up for me for what they get for the metal? Or is there a way around this. I really need to know how to get this thing out fast.thanx

If you have an restitution lein or a lein in general .You will have to resolve that lean no matter what happens to that property. It will follow you forever.

An uh yea..you picked the wrong forum to try to find a non-legal way to do this.
Do the right thing an either get it fixed an pay it off, or let them take it. Passing the buck on to the yard just makes them pass even tougher rules an laws against those of us that do this for a living. I for one jump through enough hoops thanks to thieves, drug addicts an morons.
For those curious about what I was referring to at the start of my post: I was talking about bad credit being removed from your credit report after 7 years(Some will not be removed..student loans, an a couple of others). This includes things like car repo, medical bills, and other things. Hence my.."yes..somethings do just fall off" comment. I'm no credit counselor or credit adviser but your more then welcome to check into it on your own an how it works. Oh an this refers to settled accounts an non-settled. You'll have to dig around a little for the details. I scrap for a living not write novels on credit an how to improve or ruin it. :)

Me and my Wife got a title loan on our 2003 Windstar a while back. Fast forward a few years, the loan is almost paid off but the lender still has the title and owns the van. 290,000 miles and now barely running and the lender still owns the van. Not us. I joke with my Wife telling her I'm going to drive it to the title loan place and hand them the keys. It's their van, right? The thing is, you still owe money on your van and you have to pay it off. Getting rid of it isn't going to make the payments go away. Getting rid of it the way you are trying to is only going to cause more problems. Park it and let it sit. You still owe the money no matter what happens to the van.
If you were to even sell it back to them, assuming that the loan value is higher than what they can resell it for, you'd still have to pay the difference.
If you can sell the van, that may be an option. If not, you're stuck with it.
Hey ya I forgot to say the county collection has the lein.they dont want it and the county disposal wont take.today I called a fire dept to see if they would take to cut up for training. The chief or something is going to call me back about it. So the only way to get rid of this is to cut it scrap it thats why im posting here.nothing illegal about it.its not considered a vehicle anymore then. I was looking for advice on how to do the job myself or if there are people that would do it for the metal.im not paying 500 for abandoned fee on a van that was free and is worthless.any suggestions on the scraping part of this is what im trying to figure out.tools I would need if I can rent them etc.
