How to remove brass inserts from plastic

I have a couple hundred pieces of old laptop docks that I am trying to find a efficient way remove the brass inserts from the ABS plastic. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

I find a hammer works well. Just smash the plastic and the brass should fall loose.

screw and plier. turn in 3-4 theads of screw and twist screw to side.

Hulk Smash

An axe will do just fine if you hit right by it than u have a slot to pull it through.

A pair of wire cutters that open wide enough. Pinch the brass piece half way down threw the plastic, Then "Bite them off" while turning the cutters. Best when its cold, the plastic breaks easier.

Or the hammer method. Might loose half the brass pieces flying around during the smashing

I like using these if possible.

No its math or my best attempt at it . I do not recommend removing such small components , I don't tear down laptops anymore but If I had those I wouldn't them in my recycling bin . It is no way cost effective to remove such small bits but to each there own

IMO I would just grab em with a pliers and break that chunk of plastic off with it and turn it in as dirty brass. Should only take seconds rather than 10x that trying to get all the plastic off for only a 2x better price.

This is definitely a case of "how far do you want to take it" haha =P I don't think either way is very time efficient, but sometimes I do find myself sitting there spending 10 minutes trying to get a tiny piece of brass free from the tube its connected to... sometimes you just have to win the battle no matter how long it take haha

Only way I would remove them is if the plastic buyer wanted them off, and then dirty brass or clean brass depending on how they came off.

I've used hammer method, but got tired of chasing them. So I stick to the piler/visegrip/channelock method

You just described me to a t ! That's why I don't bother with them , but I always get the ones under the mobo on desktops . I might have some weird plastic phobia or my subconscious knows once it hits the recycling bin it's is never heard from again .
