What do you show your seller?

I am looking to sort some boards for a company.(sort, grade, ship) In talking with them, I found their biggest concerns were liability. He doesn't want his products to end up on a CNN special about ewaste. What are the "normal" certifications given? What paperwork is shown for downstream?

I have never had any customer express concerns like that. I can only imagine it is a concern that the company he owns/works for would be embarrassed to have their product identified on a TV show.

I sell to one of the buyers on the forum that has R2 cetification. I can always show that the boards are sent to him. If this is of interest to you then you would need to contact the buyer and find out directly what the R2 certification can mean to you.

Other wise I guess you could offer to sign an agreement not to do anything that could lead to it being on CNN as bad way to recycle.

You can provide him with your downstream information. I have never had to give paperwork but have checked what is available from my buyer. My buyer has R2 certification and can provide certificates of destruction if needed. The only challenge, is you allow the company you want to purchase from to cut out the middleman, you, and sell directly to your buyer once they see a company name on some paperwork...

it could just be his way of getting u to tell him where to sell his stuff

just try to assure him your buyer is R2 certified & maybe get references from some other companies that u have dealt with or still deal with.
i would think it VERY unwise to show him your buyers contact details.

I believe he is just sorting but not buying, correct me if I'm wrong. The worst that could happen would be for that company to find a better buyer. (R2 cert. and honest.)

I keep receipts (weight tickets) and make sure everything I'm involved with has a legitimate "paper trail". For me we even record what dumpster, dumpster location, brief description of dumpster contents, generated on site or illegally dumped (suspect). When selling e-waste we look for R-2 and California E-steward certified (if sold locally). As a business you are only as good as the people you employ, your own personal standards of conduct, customer goodwill, and you reputation is everything. Your best advertising are your existing customers and those you associate with.

Mechanic, you are right. My value in this deal is sorting and shipping for less than his previous refiner. I am not buying the boards. My original post was to ask what you would provide a company? An R2, itemized weights by board grade. I guess it just boils down to if he likes me or not.

My apologies Foamnone, I misunderstood and thought you were purchasing them. They should be able to get all the certification and disclaimers they need from any reputable buyer. Even a simple contract from their buyer stating there material will be properly recycled and disposed of and never used in any type of media or publication shouldn't be out of the question...
