I just need to know where I should be looking to get those big ewaste lots. You guys are always referring to auctions and I can't seem to locate anything local so I can throw my hat into the ring. I check GovDeals and Public Surplus pretty regularly. Anywhere else I should look? Thanks.

Govdeals and public surplus I look at also. You are right there must be others. Most times what I like are too far or two expensive. New York state store on ebay looks good at start but bids go crazy as stated earlier.
Do some searching as I found (thanks Google) that there was one primary auctioneer doing most of the school systems here in Ind. I got on his site and they had a monthly calender listing what and where in the state.
I'm scrapping what's pretty much all of a prisons security system at the moment.
No cameras, hard drives, monitors or wire though.
Just rack systems/servers? and router/switch systems.

Oh I am indeed. We have a couple of regular pickups at computer stores in the area and are reaching out to more. I was more specifically asking where to find the auctions that so many on here reference.Quote:

This has been covered several different times. Really, think about what you are asking. No one is going to tell you specifically where they get all their materials. We all put in the work, just like it is being suggested that you do. Why would anyone want to add to the already stiff competition? Why give up a honey hole that no one else knows about?Quote:

I think what you will find with auctions is that you have to sell some of the stuff for continued use in order to come out ahead.
Large, scrap only lots, are usually gobbled up by larger companies or scrap yards that have deep pockets.
Sources for scrap are always changing and things that seemed like a sure thing a year or two ago are a no go now but may be good again next month.
Some auctions I have been to turn into a pissing match between a few guys and although one of them wins at hammer time they lost at profit time.
Heck, I don't see Public Surplus computer auctions as profitable for resale usually. The prices are crazy. For E-Waste, public auctions almost never work out. Smaller auction houses can work. Exposure is your worst friend in auctions.
The secret is to deal directly with the companies/schools. I know, that's not much of a secret, but still...
I put a local ad on craigslist saying I buy unwanted or outdated computers and computer parts. I've bought atleast 10 lots with in a couple or years some where free tho. Man I with my dad still worked at a card board recycling center. Made some money with that one 100 free computers and monitors. Those where the days.
Putting out wanted ads on Craigslist has been my best source by far. Have been advertising regularly there for about 2-3 years, and I got many regular customers through those ads. I also got many large lots too, even today I got an offer for about 100 desktops and 80 laptops.
If you put in some ads, make the ad clear, list what you are looking for, and how much you offer for specific items. This will cut down the time wasters and those who want to sell you one computer for $100. I also state that I’m mostly interested on larger lots only (10+ towers or larger lot of parts, etc). Again this will cut down time wasters who have one tower to pick up 30 miles away.
