forklift certification/license

hey guys,
before i ask my question i just wanted to say thats its been far too long since I've been on here, and believe me i miss it. I've searched around the internet and really haven't been able to find a sufficient answer, so i figured id turn to the place where everyone seems to know a little bit about everything. So my question is, i was wondering if anyone knew the process of getting your forklift license/ (certification?) in massachusetts and how i would go about taking a training course,etc. Any response would be a great help so thanks for looking

Here in Ind. when I started work for a couple of different factories, they would arrange for a rep. from a forklift company come down and put on a one day training course. At the end of the day we would get our cert. Usually Allis Chalmers or one of those lift companies. AS far as me getting a license now, don't know of a way. If you own the lift then the insurance company might be the only one to dictate if you need one.

Here in N.C. they teach and certify at community colleges. You may find this is also available in your state. Mike

Get a part time job at Home Depot or Lowes. They'll put anyone on a forklift! LOL

Warehouse Forklift Training

you need a Massachusetts hoisting license issued by the Department of public safety. It is either a 1C or 1D license, depending on where you are operating the forklift. A 1B or 1A also covers this. You will need to get a DOT physical before applying to take the exam. My understanding is that physicals are not covered by insurance and they are about $85 around me. Test should be written only. Once you get our license, you need to take continuing education classes in order to renew your license.
