dekon crt tv

so a few weeks back i got two tvs from my uncle a bigger sony crt tv it didnt work so i broke that down but the dekon tv works should i keep it and sell it?

My opinion an mine alone..It can't hurt to try an resell it, but I think in the end you'll end up breaking it down. Resales on Tube tv's can be hit or miss. I get rid of some now an then, but I live in a tourist area so the homes that rent to them will buy them at time to be cheap an avoid the cost of a new flat screen.

If it were me I'd toss it on CL for a week, if it didn't sell I'd scrap it. I wouldn't expect to much for it but hey..even 10 bucks is more then scrap value. Oh an I can't find anything about the tv via searching so unless it's some odd collectable don't feel bad if you gotta scrap it.

Ugggh... CRT televisions. I actually charge to take them, because:

I had two come in about three weeks ago. One Sony and one Magnavox- both working, with remotes. They were both about 15-27" TVs. I had a friend who wanted one- he would take whatever came in. He picked the Magnavox to my surprise (I thought the Sony was nicer). Three weeks later... I still have the Sony. I cannot even give these things away. One more week, and it gets scrapped.

If you have the space, why not try to sell it? The Sony sits in the closet next to my office, so no big deal for me. Free TVs are my way to give back, but nobody wants handouts anymore, apparantly :)

Just remember that when you plugged them in to test them they will hold that charge for awhile, know how to safely discharge them without shocking the crap out of yourself. Almost no amperage but some real high voltage.

I wouldn't even bother discharging, leave it sit for a week and than you can scrap it. The Resell value around me is next to nothing, people post them for free working on Craigslist all the time.
