Need help with pricing

There is this recycling place in my town that takes copper, brass and aluminum. The prices are as follows:
B/S Copper - $2.30

#1 Copper - $2.20

#2 Copper - $2.05

Insulation Wire - $0.70 to $1.60

Clean Brass - $1.20

Clean Aluminum - $0.32 to $0.50
Should I go here or go to a scrap yard that is about 50 min. away, the scrap yard also takes steel and transformers. But this place is about a 5 min. drive. So I need some advice.
Scrap yard prices are:
B/S 2.40
#1 copper 2.20
Brass 1.40
And I cant get the other things.

Really depends on your quanity and what kind of vehicle you drive.

If its a town you pass by or go to from time to time for other stuff, you may want to just stash some away and see how it works out. Now if you got a car full of kids or what not this may not work.
But just like you been told, is the amount you are getting going to cover the extra gas/time you are spending?

A extra 10c is only a good thing when you have the pounds to make it so.

Look around more those prices are extremely low. Im sure you can find someone paying a lot better than that

But if you are selling 20lbs at a time... Is that $4 really worth your time?
I dont think so.

I have the same dilemma at times. For me it depends on price and quantity. I tend to save up a insulated wire because I get a better price at an out of town yard and if I have enough it makes sense to make the trip. The difference for my trips to a yard more than an hour away netted $300+ per trip and the wife got to shop at an Asian market.

Lots depends on vehicles as others mentioned, but also quantity, price difference and can you make a trip out of it. I've done pick ups in conjunction with runs to other yards. Good luck, Mike

How is 20# of copper 4$? I think it is more like $40.

He means the difference is 4$ but you will also have to travel 80minutes more to get these 4$

Well try this pick up the phone and tell them that you are being offered this for that and that for this can you match them? Also has a lot to do with the weight, but I am assuming that you have some weight to even be thinking of traveling 100 to sell it.

I would just save up a gayloard and start an auction beetween yards ;)

Save the more expensive metals for when you have a load of steel or aluminum and take it then. If you are just taking small loads of brass and copper, save the quantity to a point were the added trip time is worth the extra money you will receive.
