In my business we accumulate a lot of metal casing from laptops and all in ones. Is this worth any money? I am not sure what it is made of, probably aluminum.

any and every type of metal has some type of value...i even have one yard that will buy pig iron from me now.....as long as in isnt contaminated with radiation or asbestos is should have value
Most likely it's steel. If a metal is magnetic (also known as ferrous), then it is either steel/iron or contains some amount of steel/iron. You can always call around to your local yards to see what they're paying.

I thought it went as steel~ oh, when am I going to figure this recycling out!! I made the mistake of putting what the yard counted as other metals with the computer carcasses and they called it "mixed" metal. Only got .08#. But I didn't want to take the carcasses alone. Oh well, at least I've started the journey to learning and am trying to get better each day, and best none of it ended up in landfills getting something is better than nothing.
Funny, I also had metal shelves (taken apart to save space). No truck or trailer here. .
Light iron, mixed metal, tin, shred, and white goods are the same thing. .08 cents a LB is the right price range.Quote:

I almost feel bad for you guys... Tin/shred/mixed was going for 0.12 a pound...
until today when i got a text alert from the yard saying prices were up! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO XMAS IN JULY!!!!!!!!!!
With some jobs lined up for me over the next few days/weekend, it's gonna be gooooood times

find a yard specializing in non ferrous metals. most yards dont know what they are and rip you off if they do because people dont know better. theres copper and iron in those cases as well alot of time.
my yard says anything roughly 1/4 inch or thicker is where they oay more as steel prepaired or un prepaired. prepaired is 4 feet or shorter. tin shred or light iron is less money but can contain some contaminents like plastic n rubber.
