Help me grade/value these older pcbs from the 60s, 70s and 80s

Hi there fellow scrappers. I am new to scrapping and I live here in NH. I have been scrapping for about a year now and I have been savi g up all of the pcbs I get out some medical equipment mostly computers and small electronics. Tomorrow I will be picking up a good load of computer waste from the high school that I just graduated at. I will be getting some pcs a server and hard drives. I also came across a nice batch of about 20 pounds of old boards and 30 pounds of newer computer boards at a yardsale last weekend.(for 60$) The guy said he cleaned out buildings for his job and he would let me know if he got anything else. I'm hoping to make a trip up to the nearest e waste buyer after I break down my free load at the school tomorrow. I have all of my mother boards, telecom, memory and finger cards sorted out. I don't plan on trimming the boards of their fingers but on the older boards the chips are removed easily. Are these older normal looking IC chips worth more than newer chips? What does this silver soldering mean to the value of these old boards? They have the silver on one side and non removable ICs on the other and they also have gold fingers. Some of the ICs are gold pinned some have 3-6 and some have upwards of 10. Do I separate these in order to get a better price for that reason? What about these boards with long gold plated pins that hold the old circuit wire, should I leave these separate? Are there any other observations or pieces I could easily remove to make a better profit? I have a pentium pro I plan to sell on ebay that I got from the yardsale. Should I look at ebay for some of the old stuff that I have? If you can help me out or give me any advice it would be much appreciated. Thanks scrappahs, Adam.

Posting those pics would help us help you out a bit faster. Being new, you might wish to do a brief intro, an tell us some more about you, an help you get your post count up, so you can post the pictures or links to them, an be able to receive private messages. Not sure the number you need for links/pics, but the magic number for PM's seems to be 7 or 10, I forget which. I'm sure someone will stop in who can help you from what you posted, but again, those pictures would help us help you even more, so we can see exactly what your talking about.

Is your local ewaste buyer's prices better then our buyers? You might want to compare, an see if it might be more profitable for you to ship it out instead. We have another NH resident here also, good fella, don't tell'm I said so tho. ;)

I look forward to your intro, but in the even I miss it....Welcome to the forums from a sandbar off the coast of NC. Soak up all this knowledge like a sponge my friend, you won't find a better education in the world of scrap/ewaste anywhere else.

I'd be very interested in seeing some of those older computer boards you mentioned. If you can provide photos, I might be able to help you figure out if any of them (or the chips on them) would appeal to collectors. You may not have permission to post photos on the forum yet, though. If you email them to me directly at Attachment 1462, I can post them for you so you can get pointers from other forum members on how to process them. (Note: I'm pretty sure you can't send or receive private messages here yet, so use one of your own email accounts to send me your pics.)

It's hard to tell from your description, but it sounds as if you have some boards whose components are soldered directly onto (or through) the board, which probably means they're pretty old. (Socketed PCBs became more common later.)
