Clothes Dryer Power Cords

Went at a dryer the other night and trying to figure the best way to get at the motor, I took off a panel and the screws holding the power cord on were right there, so instead of fighting to cut through the cord I just took out the screws. When done, I looked at the cord again and realized there was nothing wrong with it and it could be reused. Looked it up on ebay and they range from $20-25 w/ shipping. Seems a lot better than the maybe $6 I would get stripping it. Just thought I would share.

Also, I have been thinking about making a four prong extension cord that can go through the basement window to the four prong outlet so I can test dryers outside without having to drag them into the basement, which I won't do.

Don't forget the screws are usually brass.
Also used cords go for around 10-15 ea. on Craigslist.

I did the same thing using an outlet box I purchased at Lowes. Basically took a cord I got from a dryer, wired it in to the 220 box I bought, and viola, an extension cord. I plug it into the outlet my dryer uses and can then plug in the dryer I want to test into the extension cord box, without having to move my dryer. Looks weird, but has worked like a champ.
