Microwave Transmitters...Not Ovens

So I am going 40 Miles out of my way to pick up 2 Microwave Transmitters tomorrow. They are from a 300' tower site. I was supposed to pick them up yesterday, but my hernia alarm went off. Should of snapped a pic, but didn't. So I have help tomorrow, and am picking them up so this will be 80 miles at 9 mpg, at $3.93/gallon, haha. Anyway, does anyone here have experience scrapping these? Why are they so heavy? Only 2' tall, GE I think, and kinda looks like a dehumidifier (bout that size). I woulda just pitched them into the shred a month ago, but this forum has inspired me to be a lot more selective. Anyhoo, if you know anything about these, I would love some input. will post pics tomorrow. Oh, and for everyone who wants to scold me, I did search "microwave transmitter". :lol:

Any thing that has a transmitter normally has a good board(s), chips, etc. I would think this is a large heat sink. I would not tear them down until I would be certain there was no resale market for them for the whole units or parts. Mike.

OK, so found out they are not microwave transmitters. Just radio transmitters, with antennas on a microwave tower, if that makes sense. And Mike, I don't think they have any value anymore, been sitting out in the elements for a couple weeks, plus I ran into a torrential downpour on the way home. I also got the antennas, which are about 20' long, but fiberglass. They may actually have some value I guess. $1200 new. Best part, guy that helped me load them is VP of IT. May have an "in" on getting a whole bunch of computers. :) Could be the beginning of my e scrapping career!

That's all good, but is there a flux capacitor? Been looking for one since 1985.
