Scrap Brokerage Percent Question

I have a question about brokering a load of scrap,

I have a connection to get 20-30 tons of scrap (which is currently selling for $.20/pound), this connection is currently producing this amount on a monthly basis.

I have found (via this forum) a buyer for this scrap that in the past nobody has offered to purchase.

The problem is how much should I pay the producer for the scrap? They do not have this connection of the buyer. Another problem I am seeing is the person with the scrap works for a company and is a family member, would this be a conflict of interest if they sold it to me for $.10 a pound?

Are they getting anything for the scrap now? Would you have to handle it?

They are currently land filling it and I would have to pull out anything that is not metal and would have to load it

1. sounds like you need a crash course on e scrap.
2. what kind of scrap is it.
3. if your connection has the permission to sell it for .10 its not a conflict of intrest their storage space is costing them x $ every moment.
4. make sure you have the shipping cost covered.
5. brokerage fee is usually. 2/3%

Which is it, is it selling for .20 lb or are they land filling it?? Can't be both, and where are they "getting" .20 a lb when shred is usually .08 to .11 a lb.

It sounds like what they have he can get 20 cents a lb for but thats if he can make a deal. Right now they are landfilling it.

I'm with Mechanic on this one. What kind of scrap are you talking about? If this is shred where are you getting .20#? If you can get .20# why don't you take it to yard? Your op dosn't make any sense to me.

Can't tell you how many deals I have lost in 50 years because the owner said no I've tried that before and it didn't work out. You Obviously need to do some home work here on the forum.

There is a PHD here in scrap knowledge for you and its free. You may want to study a bit before you jump in and screw it up for you and the next 5 people. Sounds harsh but not meant to be justr a little tough love and reality.
