I found these two things in an office desk I obtained and have no idea what they are...thanks in advance!!

Item # 1 :I would call it some sort of "Cleat". I have never seen anything like that, so not sure what you have. One definition of a cleat: A piece of metal or wood having projecting arms or ends on which a rope can be wound or secured. I'm only guessing! On Item # 2 : !#*?
#2- I do know that Steelcase is a maker of high end office furniture (desks, etc.),

I guess a hat and coat hook then a cover folder ?
The first item is a strap tensioning tool for plastic strapping. The stuff used on small packages. One side is used for tensioning, the other side for cutting the strap.
Here's a photo showing it being used.

What are the dimensions of the second item?
Could it been a thing that you place on a desk and write on? Maybe place important papers behind the glass so you can refer to them as you work?

Put a picture of a friend under the glass. Then you can draw funny things on them, Laugh, then erase it and do it again!
Great...thanks all. Mystery solved on the first one!! The second one is the size of a piece of paper so I assume you put the paper under it for some reason....just don't know the name of it.
The second one is a paper cover thing, at lest to me. Comes with a desk, looks like it would be mounted on a pull out shelf, as someone else said, so you can glance, read, etc.
An to be honest the first looks like the side legs for a small lap desk. Likely not, but that's what it looks like to me.

I am betting it's a tatum, where you put the original specification sheet underneath and then while doing work o whatever are doing, you use grease pencil to make notes, mark checklist etc., then at end of day you make photo copy of the thing with again original spec sheet and modifications. Tomorrow you use the photocopy, original stays in the file and you have cleaned the grease pencil markings off the glass. Kind of pre-scanner, not everyone owned a computer days.
That makes sense. I tried googling tatum and can't find anything.
