Any thoughts on how to go about selling this? Or know anyone interested? Or who to ask? HVAC guys or classic car restorers keeping the R12 to keep all cars original are some thoughts. I know its taboo in some states or all but no law here prohibiting sale of such.

R12 is worth about $70/lb So figure on cutting that in half for wholesale purposes. 900 bucks worth of R12 if it's full. I try to recover it as much as I can when I can during the summer months because by weight there isn't anything worth more that I deal with.
There is some buyers of freon out there. One scrapper talked about them sending a tank for him to fill then they would cut a check based on the total poundage he sent. Thanks to Freonjoe for this;

The only people that buy recovered refrigerants are the reclaiming companies. We keep 5 different tanks on hand for recovery, a R12, a R22, a 134A, a mixed tank for 134A blends and a tank for R22 blends. Having a refrigerant identifier on site really helps as the reclaimers usually test your tanks before you unload them at their processing plants.
We send 1000 pound lots down. That way we can send an extra 100 pounds of mixed refrigerant down for free disposal. Last load down was 2.00 a pound for R22, 7.00 a pound for R12 and 10.00 a pound for some virgin jugs of R502.
