bawhahahahahaha there is no way in H...
yeah pretty insane for that quality of product!
It's in DC that should tell you something. Heh.
an yes, the whole world is crazy. ;)
wow ya I pay $2-3 for complete units and $1or less for these on pallets. if these actually get bid on at that price I would love to sell to the buyer :)
I ask that every day.
I see this alot on govdeals. The seller sets the price way too high. Especially for this lot. They basically said in not so many words it was all crap and then ask $500 to start the bidding. Nuts...and yes the world has gone crazy!
Dosn't surprise me for D.C. It wouldn't surprise me if they paid 5,000.00 ea for them brand new.
I was going to answer yes before I even saw the question. The world has gone crazy.
However, in this case, it may not be. I would obviously not bid on that lot without being able to see it, but if one were to examine the lot in person, who knows? It may have 2g RAM in each unit. I doubt it, but that might be a good starting price to feel things out.
If someone were close it may do them well to visit and make an offer when it doesn't sell.
Out of the gate $550 with the 10% buyers premium ..... wow. It will be interesting to see if anyone bites.
you guys are forgetting resale value. rebuilt these computers can fetch $60-100 each. the power supplies alone can get $20 as replacements
I refurb computers myself and wouldn't wanna mess with that lot
yeah but its like the laptop business. buy enough and you can put together several computers valued above the original investment
To the original question. short answer yes in the case of e waste, it's called, Gold Fever. Makes people go crazy, and stupid. Like all other gold rushes, 90% have no Idea what they are doing and will cost the 10% that do money.
Gold is going up start buying now and cash in latter make millions it works well if you have millions to spend.
Most of those towers looked refurbishable, based on their original spec. Most of the thin ones are Core 2 Duo type systems.
That being said, these look in terrible shape. I wouldn't want to try refurbishing these things at all.
