How loooooow do you go?
How low do you go when stripping your wire? I leave my 14AWG until last, almost like refusing to eat my veggies... :o but alas I strip that too. When I first started I made sure to weigh out each size to see what was worth my time, I'm sure these measurements are around on here a lot, but was curious what others think. My Coppermine stripper can handle 14AWG but I need to make sure my blade is freshly sharpened. Hope this chart helps those starting out:

How loooooow do you go?
correction, with my new wire stippers i stripped shorter sections of 24awg

My specific yard here is very picky on things and half the time they don't give you anything better for clean wire. I don't get much of the good heavy duty stuff. As far as my other scrap I tear it down to the last screw. I try to get every piece of metal I can (goofy yes) and recycle every thing else. I wish stripping wire was a problem for me....LOL

I pick up around 120lbs every other week from my work. We build large industrial machines, so most of the wire that is strippable (around 1/3 of weight) is large #8-#2. Its that pile of 3-5lbs of #14/#12 that I grumble over.. Like NJSouth said, its a problem worth having. It's been so cold this winter that I keep my garbage can of wire in the house so I can strip it easier. The wife is thrilled...

Most the stripping I do...never-mind.

Bow chicka bow bow bow...
I couldn't tell you the gauge, but generally, I won't strip the small stuff. So..lowest would be, whatever that gauge is inside most home electrical items. After the black casing an it's all multiple thin strands..it just stays jacketed. To much time for me. I will do degaussing cables of all size an up from there. Those that deal with tv's will know what I mean when I say the small degaussing cable. Thicker the better for me.
