Found a flat panel in the dumpster it actually still works but the lower half of the screen is darker. Figured its probably not worth fixing unless somebody has suggestions? Are these worth scrapping at all? I scrap CRTs for the yoke and degaussing wire but never opened a flat panel. Thanks!
If its got horizontal CFL tubes in it.
The bottom ones may not be working. Check the LEDs are all working.
After doing like Kiwi suggested, you can find threads a plenty on the scrapping of a flat screen. I would take a look for those if you plan to scrap it, as most the info you might be looking for, will already be there.
Not trying to be a jerk, just pointing out the other threads, so you don't miss any good advice/tips/tricks with those tv's.

I did a 55" once only because no one would buy it, even for just 10 bucks. There isn't a whole lot it in it, at least this one. Some long skinny boards (which are on the other side, behind front plastic piece that goes around screen), a few pieces of Al, and the steel backing. There are more Al pieces around screen but they were attached to the glass and trying to remove them just broke the screen more and I didn't need glass shards all over the place.

That's why i don't take tvs or monitors since the switch. Only Hd flat screens now. Resale to repair shops. Just me. Tv not worth the time. Give me aluminum windows. Smash ! Hulk smash ! Ugggggg.
I charge the trash fee for tv and monitor s . Just include in a trash run. Better deal or i tell them the dump takes them free. Lol a tip even if i don't get any work. Just honest and helpful not greedy. Just me :)
I grabbed it off the side of the road figuring what the heck, maybe just a cracked screen but it might still work. Are the screens considered Haz. Waste? I still have it, didn't know what to do with it
I all ways ask people that fix televisions for a living what parts they are normally after.
I tend to trade parts in return for them fixing the odd tv here and there. Which seems to work out good for me and the buyer.
I have found normally people are after the power packs in the tv.
If you are not going to mess with fixing the TV, I certainly would pull the power supply and throw it on Ebay. Depending on which one it is you should easily get 40.00-100.00.Quote:
