How I organize my scrap area, making scrapping easier and more efficient.

Preliminary buckets on my workbench to quickly go through inventory. magnetic bowl for screws. I keep the tools I use the most right next to me. Vice mounted on the end.

Sheet metal screwed to the wall with microwave magnets hold drill bits nicely for quick change. And keeps them magnetically charged.

Orange bucket right between my legs for garbage. Preliminary buckets are emptied into larger buckets and tubs when they are full. DINO BAGS are awesome, If you can find them, I highly recommend them.

Ya and turn it upsidown and the stainless and brass screws fall out. :)

If your local/county has a plastic recycling bin then keep your eye out for the empty cheese balls (or pretzel) clear plastic containers. Fairly large container (35oz) and see-thru.

I use my OCD to my advantage. It keeps me caught up on everything. When I have tedious projects piling up,(cd drives, laptops, wire needing stripping, ect.) I tackle them just to keep the clutter down. Also, my garage is only so big...

Edit: Just today I broke down 160 cd drives. Now they are done and it feels good! time to start a new pile now. :)

I know exactly how you feel, within the last two days in between running the roads, I broke down about 20 tv and monitors because I don't want them hanging around cluttering up the place. Plus, I love to harvest copper and feed the copper monster in my house "The Big Copper Storage Bucket." Just turned about 300 lbs and I'm already back up to about 50.

Those DINO bags or Totes or whatever they're called are an interesting idea. Those ones look like a manageable size.
The ones I've seen at my friends' farm are approximately 4' square by about 5' or so tall. They get distillers grain in them.
Come to think of it, I've seen some smaller ones along the road when the hydro crews are replacing hydro poles filled with aggregate.
Might just have to stop and ask about them next time I see a crew out replacing poles.

The one on the left full of cans is 3'x3'wide x4'tall. I can't lift it without a forklift if I put anything other than alum cans in it. The smaller ones are perfect. 2'x2'x2'. Full of motherboards it's about 150lbs.
I get them from work. they come full of small rebar loops, dobies and tiewire. The large ones are full of sand. I do Bridge construction, There is no deposit for us to send them back. So ask if you see a jobsite with some. I know I would let you have it if you asked me at work.

I like the bag idea also. We have quite a pile of them at the farm. I have overlooked them in my haste to find containers with solid sides. We have several put into use soon. Thanks for the tip!

They make great screw holders too, just drop em in that direction and it grabs all the ferrous ones

Thats exactly what I use them for. Works great and keeps from having screws bounce all over the place.

Nice idea Parker. Bridge work going on, on one of the bridges into the sandbar, I get the chance I'ma ask the guys there if they don't reuse them for anything.

Worth a try. We usually just use em for trash bags, then forklift it into the dumpster.
