I got this winding from an old hand held buffer. Do i need to get copper windings out or just sell ad is. I wanted to just get copper to add to my bucket but have cut and beat and still stuck to shaft and caseing. Any tips or tricks to get copper. Thanks

Is it worth the time you're spending trying to get it off? Don't undervalue your time, could you be making more money somewhere else? You should be able to just sell it as electric motor if it won't come apart.
thanks i think that is what i will do it was good size and was wanting to throw in with my good copper since i have a big bucket full of it and no other motors to make alot of pounds
Maybe yes maybe no. Tear one apart and see for yourself. The more you do the quicker you will recognize when you should scrap it whole or break it down.

Are you talking about the armiture from the middle of the motor? If so then you can cut it in half and using a small steel rod and hammer knok the copper out. Or you should just put it in with electric motors (that's what I do).
yeah thats what it is i tried to cut and beat it out earlier but did not work so i am starting a bin of electric motors since i found a few more broken drills can i throw it in with my scrap from tvs like the things cable from tube plugs into

Over all removing copper from motors is what it is . Most likely your a mechanical person so you see what has to be done
if you can't get all the copper get what you can
My yard just dropped copper prices to $2.57 yet motors are still at .28 lb that is probably the spread that
allows for selling as is .
Before copper dropped a typical motor with copper removed was around $1. 25 to 1.50 per motor gain
I have not recalculated new pricing but I know in a day or two motors could go lower, whats holding them tight is my yard wants steel for now.
Some motors like a ceiling fan have such weight with low copper, better as is
in time once you realize removing copper is not like doubling your money, you will pick the easy copper removal motors and leave others be.
I am seeing vacuum motors these days with plastic cases there lighter so motor price is lower yet after dismantling less to scrap also .

Good advice so far especially since your time is what's the most valuable. Generally when I get something that I've not dealt with before I take it apart to see what's inside and if it is worth the time or effort to take it apart if I find another one.
