So I was cleaning up a midgrade board and was about to remove these two large capacitors. Then I noticed the plus sign next to both of them on the board. Any thoughts or input? I know this can indicate them being tantalum but they seem too large.

electrolytic capacitors have the same markings, easy way to tell what they are is to take a pair of snips and try and crush the canister. if it crushes its electrolytic if it doesnt its tantalum
Yup exactly right just funny looking electrolytic once I tried crushing. Sorry to make suck a waste of a thread.

One thing u can try is use magnet. Al cap will not get stuck, Ta will.

I'm learning, last month I relised the little brown blocks I'd been picking off boards for over a year, are not Tantis', they have silver & platnium in them, but no tanti......
(double ring on the blue cap looks like its to make a seperate container inside to hold the parts of the wet Tantis cap.)
Wow viewed the link and my boards are full of them. Nice knowing what ish is. Even if still unsure lol.
