I have a quantity os stainless to cut to dimemsion. Will it be downgraded because of slatter from cutting it with a buzzbox? The yard is noncommital,says just bring it in?Any other ideas? It's thick and eats up abrasive blades but the 300 amps eats it up.
none of this makes sense, dont waste your time cutting it up just take it to them, and save yourself some money. Let them do all of the work.
I don't know what "quantity" we're talking here, but I bought a plasma cutter to do my first large s/s job. Paid for the machine and then some. I did try it first with cutter wheels and arc. Both were a complete pita compared to plasma.
As for whether they will downgrade it, I don't know.
Are you gonna pay more for the electric for the buzzbox than what you'll make off the prepared??
I would cut a couple of pieces and take it in to see what they call it. It may be fine with the splatter. If not, you might be able to cut it then hit it with a heavy scraper. If that won't work, try running a grinder over the splatter. It will probably come off pretty quickly.
Depending on the amount you have, it can actually be worth quite a bit more cut to size. I had two semi loads of 20 foot conveyors that I had to cut down to 4x4x4 foot sections. It was a 20% difference in the price at the time. I did use my plasma cutter on it, but you have to have a lot of SS to justify buying one.
