Circuit Boards - Two Questions

1) What are these made of? We see them on just about every circuit board. They appear to be tin-coated copper or something like that. Are they? And if so, does that make them #2 copper or are they something else?

2) I do sell my premium computer chips and boards on eBay (and will try Board Sort next), but what of my low-grade boards from TVs and whatnot? I have a bunch of them. My yard doesn't care if I toss them in with the shred, but is there a better avenue? I know the low-grade (mostly brown) boards don't have much value, so I bust off the copper bits and the flyback transformer (which nets motor price because of the copper), but I'm wondering if the garbage cans full of these boards can be sold for more than shred price.

1) it's a transistor. that should be Copper backing. I'm not sure what it goes as normally.

2) check the buyers on here. if you ship them a gaylord box, you should do fine if you send in your mid and high with the low. your mileage may vary

Why not try some of our buyers since your a member here. I think its always a good practice to support our people.

No they are not and I have not seen too many favorable reviews on them, if any.

A: Read more of the old threads, the more you read the more often you will recognize possible opportunities.

The metal by its self if Cu but I expect to get #2 Cu price you would need to clean them of other materials. As I have stated before I continue to hold onto these until I find a quick easy way to clean them up. I don't get a lot so it will take me a few years until I have enough to concern me. Mike

Miked, I wonder if you could do like Joe from KY used to do with the pins he processed. Remember the pipe with an end on it and he used a smaller pipe to kind of smash the material away from them. I'll bet you could do the same thing with the transistors.

It's going to take a good amount to get weight . But sure I sold them off as #2 the plastic needs be shattered off or Burned off But thats just theorized with the burn.
I just put it with a load of wire
tin coated copper as you see you cut into it and you see copper and no mag stick .
Lats get hypothetical If I saved each one ,
probably be 40 pounds after 5000 to 6000 TV's

Thanks Mech. Its either that or tumble them with something that will break the non-Cu part. I think I'll wait until I have enough to make the effort worth the pay off. It's a bit like the Al/Cu heat sinks that I save until I have a few hours worth of work. Which is why I haven't put any real time into working out the best way for me to do it. Your suggestion is very likely the easiest way to process them. Mike.
